Congress passed and the President signed an extension of the existing Federal Tax Credit Program. The notable aspects of this bill include:

Goes into affect the day the President signed the Bill, Nov. 7, 2009.

The Credit for 1st time buyers is still 10% of the Purchase Price, up to $8,000.

No repayment is required as long as you live in your home for at least three years.

Added a credit up to $6,500 for repeat buyers who have owned their home and lived in it for at least the last 5 years.

Increased income limits to $125,000 individually and $225,000 for joint filers.

Reduced credit is available for individual filers with $145,000 or joint filers with $245,000 in income.

Homes must cost less than $800,000.

Must sign a contract by 04/30/2010 and take title by 06/30/2010.
